Merge Duplicates Dialog
The Merge Duplicates dialog is opened when the "Merge Duplicates" option is selected from the Tools menu. This dialog has two major divisions. The left side of the window displays URLs from the currently open NetVisualize file that have duplicates and buttons used to (de)select and merge selected items. The right side displays information about the duplicate links for the URL that is selected on the left side. The top-right panel lists the paths of duplicate links corresponding to the selected URL in the left panel. The checked links are those to be merged. The merge destination appears in the panel just below the list of links. The destination corresponds to the selected link in the list. Details about the selected link are displayed below the merge destination. Buttons used to merge or delete links are found below the link details. When the Merge button is clicked, the links that are checked will be merged into the link that is selected. The merge operation will combine notes and other relevant information from all checked links and store it in the selected link. Checked items can be deleted by clicking the Delete button.
To automatically merge all duplicates, click on the "Select All" button and then click on the "Auto-Merge Selected Items" button. Duplicates for each URL will be automatically merged. The first link found for each URL with duplicates is the one that will be kept, and the contents of the other duplicates for the same URL will be merged into the first. In order to control which duplicate is kept for each URL, the user must perform a manual merge instead of an automatic merge. After all duplicates for a given URL are merged so that there is only a single link that references the URL, the URL will turn green.
